SFC Lancaster comprises a small hub of people meeting monthly to share and connect the many great food projects taking off in Lancaster district. We do not see ourselves as necessarily setting up projects ourselves – we seek to connect existing and arising initiatives and to catalyse action where there are large gaps! We see this networking and catlalysing as an essential role and we tend not to put on big public events as such – tho we do so should the need arise . . . such as our ‘ Beyond Food Banks’ event . . .
This website is under active construction . . . . it is growing into the active hub of all matters relating to sustainable food systems in Lancaster.
Please send any information or links you’d like included via the ‘get in touch’ page.
At the present time our focus is on exploring what may be possible for sustainable food in local hospitals – here is what is happening in Bristol . . . . . we are also interested in the prison food system . . .

Here is our vision – as at Feb 2017 . . . it evolves . . . .
At Lancaster SFC, our goal is to build a thriving local food sector which is healthy, sustainable and fair. Food is both personal and social, individual and shared. Food is also, by its very nature, holistic and diverse – encompassing concerns for health, sustainability, local economy and social justice. Above all, food connects us, not only to each other, but also to the environment which surrounds us and the many different international cultures which enrich our small yet vibrant city. We live in a place which is home to some inspiring food producers, projects and initiatives.
Through SFC Lancaster, we want to harness this passion and expertise in order to help it spread and grow so that more people, places and organizations within our district can experience the benefits that come from being part of a strong and sustainable food sector. We believe that we are greater than the sum of our parts and want to provide a catalyst for helping public, private, voluntary and community sector actors to work together for change.
